Nominations Notice to Saint Paul Regional Labor Federation Affiliates

The 58th Annual Constitutional Convention of the Minnesota AFL-CIO will be held in September. The Saint Paul Regional Labor Federation (SPRLF) elects Geographical Area Representatives. Individuals elected to these positions serve on the SPRLF Executive Board.  They will also be nominated by the SPRLF to serve on the Minnesota AFL-CIO General Board, and they must be elected at at the subsequent State Federation Convention to be seated on the General Board.

The SPRLF has recently been notified by the Minnesota AFL-CIO that the SPRLF will nominate nine Geographical Area Representatives at the 2026 Minnesota AFL-CIO convention. Nominations will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the SPRLF Delegates meeting on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Candidates for these positions must, at the time of their election and throughout their term of office, be members in good standing of organizations which are current in their affiliation with the SPRLF and the Minnesota AFL-CIO.

The SPRLF will also nominate two Trustees during the August 12 Delegates meeting. To be eligible to run for either office, a delegate must have a recorded attendance of not less than one-half of the regular SPRLF meetings held during the year immediately preceding the month in which nominations are held.

If nominations result in an uncontested election, a unanimous ballot of candidates can be approved at the same meeting as nominations occur, and officers and board members may be sworn in at that time. If an election is required, it will be held during the SPRLF Delegates meeting on Wednesday, September 9.
