The SPRLF’s labor assemblies carry out our work on the local, grassroots level. Whether it’s volunteering at the local food shelf, supporting an organizing drive or phone banking for labor-endorsed candidates, labor assemblies are a great way to help grow labor’s presence in their communities.
Each of our four labor assemblies serves a county in the East Metro area. Assemblies meet monthly and are open to any member in good standing of a union affiliated with our federation, who lives or works in that county.

What work do labor assemblies do?
- Serve the community. Labor assemblies work hand-in-hand with their local United Way, volunteering to support local food shelves and schools.
- Educate themselves and others. Labor assemblies spread the word about policy issues impacting their communities so that they can act in support of working families.
- Screen candidates for labor endorsement. Assemblies screen candidates for office in their area and recommend endorsement to the Saint Paul Regional Labor Federation.
- Support endorsed candidates. Labor assemblies organize volunteer opportunities in support of labor-endorsed candidates in their areas, including door-knocks, phone banks and other campaign activities.
