Twenty-three union members joined the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation’s team of volunteers at United Way Action Day, using their lunch hour Aug. 14 to join “speed volunteer” activities downtown St. Paul.

Action Day drew a total of 1,500 volunteers to three Twin Cities locations, according to Greater Twin Cities United Way. Together, they helped pack 6,930 laundry kits, 5,940 back-to-school kits, 99 fleece blankets, 5,940 dental kits and 5,940 healthy snack packs for area families in need.

Kits and packs made during Action day were donated to local United Way agency partners: 360 Communities, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, Merrick Community Services, Neighborhood House, NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center, Pillsbury United Communities and the Salvation Army.
